Background
One of the big challenges that humanity faces in the internet era is the design and promotion of a process of democratization that can enable people world wide to gain a fact base view of the world.
As indicated by the OECD Council and its Global Project on "Measuring the Progress of Societies", a key role is played by the design and development of sets of key economic, social and environmental indicators that can be used to promote evidence-based decision-making across the public, private and citizen sector.
Goals
The ict4progress website aims at allowing people to make sense of social indicators by pushing a well-informed use of statistics in evaluation of global and local facts. We have decided to create a space where people can discuss about progress and share those tools that can make sense of statistical data and facilitate its visualization and comprehension. Our intention is not to present numbers and data only, but also to stimulate the ICT community to share innovative tools that can make a difference in understanding the global challenges that await us and the future generations.
We aim at promoting innovative methods for interactive statistical analysis, visualization, synthesis of statistical knowledge and to support evidence-based decision making in the context of the OECD Global Project on "Measuring the Progress of Societies".
